چکیده
The etiology of psychotic disorders is still unknown, but in a subgroup patients symptoms might be caused by an autoimmune reaction. In this study, we tested patterns reactivity against potentially novel hippocampal antigens. Serum cohort 621 individuals with and 257 controls were first for on neuropil rat brain sections. Brain reactive sera (67 diseased, 27 healthy) further antibody binding to glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) isotype 65 67 cell-based assay (CBA). A sub-cohort 199 152 was the prevalence anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) HEp2-substrate as well double-stranded DNA, ribosomal P (RPP), cardiolipin (CL). Incubation serum resulted unidentified both diseased control groups. Upon screening GAD CBA, one these identified GAD65 individual schizophrenia also healthy individual. Two two had low levels targeting GAD67 CBA. Antibody HEp-2-substrate increased schizoaffective disorder, only 3 did testing hint at possible diagnosis systemic lupus erythematosus. Although intracellular antigens no specific targets could identified. are very rare do not seem disorders.

Antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase: prevalence in neurological diseases.
UNLABELLED High prevalence of autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD-Ab) in stiff man syndrome (SMS) not only helps diagnosis, but also suggests immune mediated impairment of GABAergic functions. However, the presence of GAD-Ab has also been reported in other neurological syndromes. Therefore the prevalence of GAD-Ab was investigated in SMS, progressive encephalomyelitis with r...

The role of anti‐glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies in mood disorders
Gamma‐aminobutyric acid (GABA) possibly plays a causative role in mood disorders. This hypothesis originated with studies on the beneficial effect of valproate in mania and as a mood stabilizer. Since valproate is known for its action in increasing the level of GABA, it was indirectly suggested that decreasing levels of GABA were responsible for mood alterations. To identify factors causing the...
متن کاملGlutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) immunocytochemistry of developing rabbit hippocampus.
Immunocytochemical techniques were used to examine the synaptic relations of inhibitory interneurons in the developing rabbit hippocampus. Glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), the synthesizing enzyme for the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, was found in interneurons of immature (8 d old) as well as mature (30 d old) tissue. GAD-immunoreactivity was seen in somata, dendrites, and axon terminals o...
متن کاملAutoantibodies to glutamic acid decarboxylase in downbeat nystagmus.
The cause of downbeat nystagmus (DBN) remains undiagnosed in about 40% of patients. This paper reports the presence of antiglutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies (GAD-Ab) in a patient with DBN. Antibodies against GABAergic neurons located in the vestibular complex may induce chemical denervation of the floccular neurons, which normally suppress the peripheral imbalance between vertical semicirc...
